Unboxing the Apple iPhone 4, part 1

June 24, 2010

Here’s my unboxing video, comparing the Apple iPhone 4 to a bunch of other devices…

I’ll have some pictures up in a little while as well. In the meantime, check out my thoughts on the iPhone 4!

Regarding the iPhone 4

June 21, 2010

iPhone 4

It’s been almost 2 weeks since the iPhone 4 was announced at WWDC, almost a week since pre-orders started (a fiasco that probably deserves its own blog post), and with launch only a few days away, I wanted to share my thoughts on Apple’s latest object of desire…

Nokia N8 hands on

June 15, 2010

Today I finally got a chance to play with the Nokia N8. I got to use prototype hardware (still labeled C0) running early software (not even pre-release).

In short, I’m definitely impressed. But I’m still concerned that the N8 will not be able to compete with iOS and Android devices when it’s launched later this summer.

Pictures taken with the Nokia 5230 (Nuron)

June 12, 2010

While the Nokia 5230 (Nuron) is a basically a Nokia 5800 on a spec diet, it features Nokia’s best 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera to date!

June 11, 2010

E72 sample pictures (slide show):

X6 sample pictures (slide show):

Both are feature-packed, reasonably-priced Symbian smartphones with nice cameras, and follow in the footsteps of good devices with disappointing cameras, namely the Nokia E71 and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. More after the break…

HTC EVO 4G camera

June 3, 2010

I’ve been using the awesome HTC EVO 4G for 2 weeks now, and I’ve snapped quite a few pictures already, starting at the Maker Faire. Here’s my take on the camera, just in time for tomorrow’s launch!

The EVO 4G features a similar (if not identical) camera to the HTC Incredible with an 8 megapixel sensor, an auto-focus lens with macro, and dual LED flash.

Not surprisingly, the resulting pictures (slide show) compare favorably with the Incredible’s wonderful shots, but there are some differences. Read on…
