Quickie: Nokia E73 (Mode)

Back in June I received a Nokia E73 from the friendly people at T-Mobile – basically a variation on the excellent Nokia E72. I used it briefly but got interrupted by the arrival of other things. More after the break…

The E73 features different 3G bands (2100/1700/900 MHz) than the E72 (2100/1900/850 MHz) for AWS support. It adds WiFi calling (UMA) but looses the Nokia power connector (USB charging only). There are also some cosmetic changes with the buttons around the D-pad.

Fortunately, most of the E72 goodness (and quirkiness) remains, including the nice camera!

Pros:
- Premium look and feel
- Decent QWERTY keyboard
- Nice 5 megapixel camera (with auto-focus, LED flash, and VGA video recording)
- 3G (T-Mobile compatible), WiFi, GPS, compass, and FM radio
- Good battery life
- Full Bluetooth support (including ObEx, DUN, and A2DP)
- Standard 3.5 mm audio and micro-USB power/data connectors
- USB 2.0 mass storage and micro-SD support
- iSync support

Cons:
- SIM locked
- No touchscreen
- No accelerometer
- No camera geo-tagging or dedicated shutter button
- So-so user interface
- No gapless music playback
