Arguably, the Apple iPhone 4 and Motorola Droid X are the current flagship smartphones for AT&T and Verizon. Both are multimedia powerhouses, and feature impressive cameras, at least on paper!
I’ve been playing with the cameras on both devices extensively for almost 3 months, and the resulting pictures and videos are indeed excellent, yet there are pros and cons to each phone. More after the break…
Wow… The Epic 4G is something else! I think it’s even better than the EVO 4G – love the dedicated cam key, and the keyboard is über fab :)
Take the Captivate or Vibrant, replace GSM with CDMA, add 4G (WiMax), a landscape keyboard, a front-facing camera, a notification light, a shutter button, and an LED flash – that’s the Epic 4G.
I’ve been using the awesome HTC EVO 4G for 2 weeks now, and I’ve snapped quite a few pictures already, starting at the Maker Faire. Here’s my take on the camera, just in time for tomorrow’s launch!
The EVO 4G features a similar (if not identical) camera to the HTC Incredible with an 8 megapixel sensor, an auto-focus lens with macro, and dual LED flash.
Not surprisingly, the resulting pictures (slide show) compare favorably with the Incredible’s wonderful shots, but there are some differences. Read on…
Take the Incredible, replace the 3.7″ OLED screen with a massive 4.3″ TFT screen (same 800×480 pixel resolution), add 4G (WiMax), HD video recording (720p), HDMI ouput, a front-facing camera (1.3 megapixel), and a kickstand – that’s the EVO 4G…
Congratulations, Nokia. The brouhaha surrounding the Nokia N8 is almost as epic as the recent kerfuffle about the iPhone HD (my nomenclature). Fantastic PR Job!
What do you mean that “leak” was not intentional? Oh well, any advertising is good advertising…
So, about the N8. Color me cautiously thrilled. The short of it is that the hardware is spot on (finally), but the verdict is still out on the software (predictably). Or maybe I’m just a sucker for a nice cameraphone :)
